F is for Fish! Camp Calhoun learned about Tennessee’s oFISHal state fish today with a presentation and casting lessons from Ezra Stewart. Students finished the day with fishy treats.





L is for Lodge Cast Iron. Students learned about Lodge today from The Rambling Baker herself, Gloria Stewart. Thank you, Mrs. Stewart, for educating our students on things Made in Tennessee and for the tasty treats!

V is for Volunteer. Camp Calhoun learned how Tennessee gained its nickname today followed by a visit from Calhoun Volunteer Fire Department. You can see the fun that followed! We’re always thankful for our community volunteers that not only keep us safe, but help out whenever possible! Friday is also the perfect day for Kona Ice! Thank you to all those who stopped by today to purchase Kona Ice in support of Camp Calhoun!





S is for Sequoyah. Thank you to today’s guest speaker from Sequoyah Birthplace Museum. Students enjoyed learning about Sequoyah and activities in the classroom afterward.





M is for Manufacturing! Thank you to today’s Camp Calhoun guest speaker Sherri Ingle from Denso for educating our students about what Denso does. You don’t get any more #madeinTN than #madeinMcMinn. Students were even treated to a goody bag to take home.

Teresa Barlok, our guest speaker from CapStar Bank, spoke to our Calhoun Campers today about money, budgeting, needs, and wants. Students participated in a shading activity where they learned about the different coins, a bingo game that taught them the purpose of deposits, budgets, savings accounts, and more! Thank you, Mrs. Barlok, for helping us educate our students on such important topics!

H is for Honeybee! Camp Calhoun learned about Tennessee’s state agricultural insect today with research, books, taste testing, recipe creations, and guest speakers Adam and Amber Cook. What will Day 3 bring?
